Rain

I walk the street,
hoping to get to work.
Little did I know I would meet,
rain on the road at a fork.

I suddenly crave for coffee,
and a loving warm hug.
The rain has an effect on me,
and I go out to grab myself a mug.

Getting wet to the bone,
suddenly it dawns on me.
No one should be alone,
someone to hold your hand there should be.

Feels good walking in the rain,
the smell of wet earth exhilarating my senses.
Helps me drive away the pain,
and frees me from all pretences.

Everyone should walk once in the rain,
it really is a beautiful excercise.
Walk not alone and in vain,
its all about love, to be precise.

Friendship

It is a bond they share,
which keeps them going.
It tells them you are there,
without them even knowing.

Its about putting out a hand,
whenever you think they might fall.
Its about being that supporting shoulder,
when they think they've lost it all.

It helps them get through the day,
telling them your always around.
And it is upto you to say,
that they bring you joys abound.

Friendship cannot be defined,
by simple words as these.
And it should never be undermined,
as it sets your life at ease.

Why do we fear?

Why do we fear,
never having attempted the unattempted?
And as the time comes near,
why, to run away are we tempted?

I think it is the fear of failure,
or the disheartening feeling of rejection,
which leads us to apply prevention before cure,
because all that concerns us is our protection.

But I think we need a change of outlook,
because there really is nothing to fear.
Instead of doing everything by the book,
do by the ideals you in your heart hold dear!

One day we shall wake up,
and see that all that glitters is not gold.
And we won't have the time to make up,
for all the mistakes that went untold.

Its about loving the imperfect person perfectly

Love evolves, you say,
right you are, I pray.
Not instantaneous, you say,
I beg to differ, by night and day.

It takes but a moment,
to fall for someone potent.
It takes but a lifetime,
to figure out love's reason and rhyme.

I know we've never met,
but one thing in stone is set:
The day we meet I promise you this,
fresh orchids and a loving kiss.

You ask, 13 years will I stick around?
I don't worry since I have you found.
You say that you come with no gaurantee,
that never did bother me.

Everyday I mutter to you sweet nothings,
sweet nothings that give my love wings.
Never before have I felt this way,
or have had my heart go a'sway.

Down Memory Lane

This was sent to me by my Grandfather. Nice poem about how things were in the good old days. :)

Down Memory Lane -50 Years Ago
This little poem tells it pretty much like it was 50Â years ago...

A little house with two bedrooms and one car on the street,
A mower that you had to push, to make the grass look 'neat.'
In the kitchen on the wall, we only had one phone,
And no need for recording things - someone was always home.

We only had a living room, where we would congregate,
Unless it was at meal time, in the kitchen where we ate.
We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine,
When meeting as a family, those two rooms would work out fine.

Sher aur Shayari (revisited)

Today was browsing over a site and came across this shayari which I simply had to share:

Aankho ki zooban woo samajh nahi paate,
honth hain magar hum kuch kah nahi paate.
Apni bebasi kis tarah kahe,
koi hai jis ke bina hum rah nahi paate.

The source is anonymous, but the shayari is beautiful. Again will try my hand at a translation, but can't promise to do it justice:

She doesn't understand the language of the eyes,
I have lips but I can't seem to be able to say anything.
How do I speak of my helplessness,
that there is someone I can't live without.

Its a good one. I really wonder who has the time as well as the depth of emotion to come up with such beautiful ones? A thought to be debated upon another time.

Sher aur Shayari

Sher's are quite fascinating if you can manage to grasp the deeper meaning. One thing is for sure, they come straight from the heart and there is never any labour lost on creativity. Every word carries its own weight, and enriches the Sher in its own right. Here are a few good ones:

Dil gumsum, Zubaan khamosh,
Yeh aankhein aaj nam kyon hai?
Tumhe kabhi paaya hi na tha,
To aaj khone ka ghum kyon hai?

Beautifully written by the anonymous author, it expresses a lot of emotion in just 4 lines, and touches upon the philosophy of the eternal quest for love. Translated loosely, it means thus:

My heart is lonely and my tongue is quiet,
Why is there defeat in my eyes?
Its not that I had ever acquired you,
Then why is there pain on losing you today?

There is much to be said on the subject, but these 4 lines encapsulate the feeling completely.

Things a 'Chagin'

Hey maajhi re, tohaar bina mor jibone neyi mane,
Phire aasi ja tui mor kaase
Jaton kore rakhiboho tohke mor booker moddhe maajhi re

Translated it means:

Without you my life has no meaning,
You may leave but you come back to me,
I shall always keep you in my heart.

Euphoria and Shubha Mudgal at their best in this song, and this is how I feel right now. Only I have no one to feel that way for! :P

That apart, things are coming along smoothly. My Master's project took off today with Jeff's help and now I'm on a roll. All I need next is like 400 documents scanned and analysed and then another study designed and executed before I'm done. None of this makes sense does it? Well I will try and explain bits and pieces of what I'm doing for my Master's project later today in another post all together.
